Give a child a book and her smile will light up the room! A child who is read to at home
knows a book can be a magical doorway into a world of talking animals, princesses,
pirate ships or even mysterious shapes, letters and numbers to recognize.

And yet, more than 60% of infants and toddlers in low income households don't have a
single children's book at home because loving, hard-working parents can barely afford
the basic necessities of life.

The gap widens further because few Pre-schools are free. Only children from more middle- and higher-income
neighborhoods can attend. Many 4- and 5-year olds arrive at Kindergarten unprepared.

United Way believes all children deserve an equal chance to succeed. We have partnered with the Dolly Parton
Imagination Library
to send a free book each month to children from birth to age 5.

Your gift of $52 will give one child a free book per month for a full year.
